Clean Water Action, a grassroots environmental organization, advocates for strong environmental laws, addresses local environmental issues, and safeguards public health. Clean Water Fund, a research and education organization, promotes justice and public interest related to water, waste, clean energy, and toxins. Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are seeking a part-time coordinator to lead the new Youth Action Collaborative (YAC). In this role, you will adapt and implement the YAC Curriculum to create a tailored after school program that fosters environmental knowledge and essential professional organizing skills. By partnering with teachers at partner schools, you will recruit enthusiastic YAC participants, providing them with opportunities to act on local environmental issues. You will also support and mentor youth organizers in executing a Youth Participatory Action Research Project addressing a local environmental concern. Additionally, your assistance with grant fundraising for the YAC and other assigned fundraising projects will play a vital role in sustaining our impactful initiatives. Responsibilities
- Adapt and implement Clean Water Fund’s YAC Curriculum to create a tailored after school program that builds environmental knowledge and key professional organizing skills and provides opportunities for youth to take action on local environmental issues.
- In partnership with teachers at partner schools, recruit YAC participants
- Support youth organizers to design and implement a Youth Participatory Action Research Project that addresses a local environmental concern.
- Assist with grant fundraising pertaining to YAC and other fundraising projects as assigned by State Directors
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience with youth engagement work
- Experience with community organizing and/or policy advocacy in Massachusetts.
- Demonstrated commitment to Clean Water’s mission and values including demonstrated leadership on economic and racial justice issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills including cultural competency in working with people from various economic, racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Adaptability and ability to learn on the job.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
